The Background (Collection 1)
Some Call It Home is an ongoing collection of short films about people who protect nature and promote wildlife coexistence. In our first collection of shorts, we visited Yellowstone with an acclaimed natural history photographer, park ranger, trails superintendent and geologist to see what it takes to maintain the world’s most visited national park.
The Story (Collection 2)
For the next chapter, Some Call It Home seeks a place that is equally as stunning yet very different in its history, culture and ecology - Virgin Islands National Park. There, on the Caribbean island of St. John, park rangers and marine biologists mix with mainland tourists, endangered sea turtles and thousands-year-old cultures, forming a national park like no other. But the crystal waters and lush forests of this island paradise are under a host of threats, from coral bleaching and invasive Lionfish to unsustainable tourism and economic inequality. The island and its communities are recovering too, from the brutal 2017 hurricanes that severely damaged homes, infrastructure and natural elements of the island. The path forward for the park and those who maintain it remains murky.
